Sandvik participates in a 3-year research collaboration, initiated by the University West in Trollhättan, Sweden. The focus is on additive manufacturing and creating cutting edge knowledge about high temperature materials.
In March 2017, the project SUMAN-Next was launched at the University West in collaboration with industrial partners, including Sandvik.
The project stretches over three years and focuses on creating a basic understanding of the relationship between process, material structure and material properties. Other companies participating in the research project are GKN Aerospace, Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery and Arcam AB.
The research at the University West focuses on metallic materials. Sandvik is a world-leading supplier of high alloyed metal powder for additive manufacturing and has a center for additive manufacturing in Sandviken, Sweden, which gives the company a platform that covers the entire value chain.
