Additive manufacturing is maturing into an industrial manufacturing technology. The Additive Manufacturing Association within VDMA accompanies this process, uniting more than 100 decision makers of this young technological branch in its own ranks. Technological and normative developments are being discussed in working groups; at the same time, the Association regards it as its mission to spread technological expertise through public relations.
A strong case in point is the two-day symposium “Modern Production Processes with Additive Manufacturing” and “Creating Added Value with Additive Manufacturing”, which the Association organized to take place on April 27th and 28th at Hannover Messe.
The keynote speech on April 27th will be delivered by Professor Stephan Reimelt, CEO of GE Germany Holding GmbH, covering the meaning of additive technologies in increasingly digital production chains in aviation.
Next to prospects on digital AM factories of the future, the two-day symposium will offer an overview of current applications of additive manufacturing technologies. The focus will be on respective added value for users. The bandwidth ranges from reflections on profitability and reliability of additive technologies in electronical manufacturing, over potentials of indirect AM application for optimizing injection molding tools, to challenges in everyday production at a manufacturing service provider specializing in additive manufacturing as well as companies from various mechanical engineering sectors.
