FESPA Africa offers opportunities in 3D printing

Samples printed with the Afinia 3D printer

PrintFESPA Africa, recently offered most leading brands a chance to exhibit their 3D printing solutions to ignite opportunities in the sector and to take visitors’ businesses to another dimension.

Some of them who took part are as follows:

Roland, the platinum expo sponsor, exhibited its ARM-10 3D printer suitable for quickly checking a design at the initial stage of prototyping or modeling a complex shape. The ARM-10, by integrating a stereo-lithography process with a UV-LED projection system, builds models by sequentially curing layers of resin from a liquid resin vat. Multiple objects can be simultaneously produced within the same work area thereby reduces modeling time compared to methods where lasers expose specific areas.

Roland’s imageCure resin becomes semi-transparent when cured and the post-processing like support removal and polishing are simple. The resin consumption is also minimised by using a suspended build system.

Rapid 3D

Rapid 3D exhibited Mcor IRIS paper printer, Zortrax M200 and various samples from its printer range.

Mcor IRIS, designed for paper 3D printing, can print many models with most affordable standard office paper every day. Mcor’s patented ink penetrates through the paper, resulting in high colour fidelity and photorealistic models. Printing is quiet, non-toxic and safe, in addition the paper, water-based glue and ink and even the printed models can be completely recycled.

Zortrax M200, which can print on a variety of materials, can print 3D models of any dimension and highly detailed elements, with each copy being exactly the same.

Graphix Supply World

GSW exhibited AFINIA H480, which has features like Auto-Leveling Platform Calibration and Nozzle Height Detection, to measure the correct distance from the printing surface prior to printing. It comes with an easy to install software for both PC and Mac and gives an excellent printing experience.

The company also showcased Cubify 3D system range, which gives thousands of 3D printables like fashion fits, home decors and custom toys.

Mimaki is working on a multi-coloured 3D printing system with unique new features that will be launched soon.

Rectron South Africa

Rectron exhibited MakerBot Digitizer Desktop 3D Scanner, which can create clean and watertight 3D models and works seamlessly with MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D Printers to give standard design files to use on any 3D printer.

MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D printer, which gives high-resolution prototypes and complex models, MakerBot Replicator Mini and MakerBot Replicator Z18, which allows to make extra-large and ultra-tall industrial prototypes, models, and products, were also exhibited.
