Additive Manufacturing – or 3D Printing – creates specific legal issues that have to be examined and taken into account. Law firm DWF Germany not only write articles about the need for awareness of legal requirements when using 3D printing technology, but also organise a forum on 3D printing and law every year in Cologne, Germany. This year, the annual expert forum will be held for the third time and you are invited.
After addressing business models of innovative companies that are active in the field of 3D printing – and the legal implications hereof – in 2016, the upcoming forum will be about quality assurance and IT security in the field of additive manufacturing, since the commercial potential of 3D printing in its respective sectors can only be fully realised when taking into account all the complex legal issues from the very beginning.
One crucial factor in this regard is quality assurance. Companies need to bear in mind that all activities in the value chain can lead to legal disputes. If a product is faulty, this usually results in the enforcement of warranty claims or of claims for compensation. Experts will describe quality requirements and challenges for the different activities within the value chain, which will be considered by legal experts inversely.
The programme is designed to provide enough time for discussion and networking. An overview of the discussions and presentations can be found on the agenda (published online).
Please note the 3D Printing and Law Forum will be held in German!
Participation is free of charge. You can register online until 17 March 2017.
