At the recent World 3D Printing Technology Industry Conference in Chengdu, UNNC signed an agreement that it hopes will boost talent and innovation in the Chinese 3D printing industry. The agreement is intended to train students for entry into the industry and advance the possibility of cooperation on undergraduate, postgraduate and executive courses. Should the related MSc courses debut in 2017, they are likely to be the first of their kind anywhere in the world.
Hing Kai Chan, UNNC Professor of Operation Management, signed the agreement (on behalf of Provost Chris Rudd) with Luo Jun, President of China 3D Printing Technology Industry Association and Wu Xian 3D Printing Technology Industry Institution. The potentially historical occasion was witnessed by over 800 attendees including Lou Qiang, the acting mayor of Chengdu City and Graham Tromans, the President of World 3D Printing Technology Industry Association.
